The High School Academic Support & Mentoring Program of NJ held it's 5th Annual Memorial BBQ & BookBag/ School Supplies Giveaway on August 19th in memory of Wilhelmina Holder, community advocate, NPS Secondary Parent's Council President and co-founder of the High School Academic Support and Mentoring Program of New Jersey.

There were more than 200 people in attendance and the smiles were plentiful from the delicious food that was served which included chicken, pasta salad, stringed beans, tossed salad, rice, hot dogs, hamburgers, cake, beverages and watermelon.

We thank Tossed NJ, our grill master, Gary Bell, the Welcome Baptist Church Family, Central Ward Councilwoman Amina Bey, Victoria Foundation, Community Foundation of NJ and the City of Newark's Office of Violence Prevention and Trauma Recovery for their generous support and our faithful volunteers who greeted and served children and families with a smile.
